In our drive to support the carpentry trade and all the hardworking tradespeople who put the graft in on-site on a daily basis, Paslode were honoured to sponsor the ‘Carpenter of the Year’ award at this year’s On The Tools Awards, held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Thursday 9th November.

The awards, sponsored by Jewson, celebrated the best of the best in the construction industry. All entries came from nominations which were open to the public and were shortlisted by a panel of expert judges for each individual category. The entries were judged on the quality of their work, expertise in their craft and contribution to their trade.

The 2023 ‘Carpenter of the Year’ award was won by Sammy Smith (@carpentry_bysam on Instagram), a Midlands-based carpenter who impressed the panel with his wide range of projects and skills and exceptional work ethic.

According to Sammy’s nominators;

“Sammy is one hell of a carpenter with so much enthusiasm, and the knowledge base that he carries is second to none about all aspects of carpentry work and a cut above the rest, Sammy smashes any task he comes across, no job is to big and put in 100% every time, the jobs range from camper van installations, bespoke work on Victorian house builds.”

Sammy also received praise for his social media content and videography skills;

“Sam Smith is by far the best content creator on all social media platforms. His editing skills are next level. Sam is a fully deserved winner of the award…he has singled handedly changed the way we view carpentry.”
